Summertime, and the livin' is easy

This pic is during one of the last days back at the condo...the kitchen remodel ended up taking way longer than is reasonable (it's still not done...) so we were back in DC for a while.  Zoe and Caleb are both long limbed little peeps now!
S had to work at the weekend and I couldn't bear another moment cooped in the condo with the oppressive heat keeping us all inside, so we loaded up and headed to lola's.  The Cracker Barrell is always a win!
Zoe, where'd you go? Come on  back here, ya hear??
The only thing with these mini rockers is that the kids like to get some serious speed going when they rock in them...we always get a lot of smiles from the other grammas and grampas around, but it's a process extricating them and trying to get them back in the car....we had one moment of total and complete "mommy I need to PEEEEEEEEEE!!!!" meltdown right before crossing the GW Bridge, resulting in my cutting across six lanes in stand-still traffic to get to the exit (didn't make any friends there).  I about wanted to kiss the ground when we finally found a sign way up in the air of McDonald's golden arches...no accidents in the car seats, but just barely made it.  The last 50 miles took about 2 and a half hours to drive.  But overall, the kids are great little travelers and not once did I feel compelled to break out the DVD players.
Yeeaaahhhh!! We spent time at the beach and park (seaweed made "swimming" more like an upper body work out for mommy who had to carry both kids out) so spent a lot of time in the yard with the sprinkler on.  Lola, Grandpa and I sat on a blankets with hors d'oevres and drinks while the kids had a blast running all over the place.
Classic summer fun
Of course, anything becomes a water toy when water is around.
