We celebrated Caleb and Zoe's first birthday with a little party in Connecticut at Lola and Grandpa's house. (thanks mom and dad!) Uncle Dan came up out from NY, and my high school friends Lissa and Jaety brought their kiddos over. Lissa and John's little munchkin Katie Lou is more than 4 months old, and Jaety and Geraldine's baby doll Caitlyn is close to 6 months. It was a lot of fun getting everyone together, and even better that we convinced Lola, Grandpa, and Uncle Dan to watch the four babies for a few minutes so we could all eat in peace...and then we all went out on an actual date that night, too!

The 12-month mark was marred by two more shots at the doctors', but we learned that Zoe is 31" tall (off the charts for height!) and 19 lbs 4 oz. (around 25% for weight) (head circ. 46"). Caleb is also 31" tall, so about 95% for height, and 23 lbs 11 oz, so between 50-75% for weight (47.5" head circ.) We are starting to phase out bottles (yeahh!!) and formula (thank goodness!) and most of their food is what we eat. The kids know they've got some Irish in them and LOVE Shepherd's pie, and real avocado on wheat bread is still a hit. Zoe adores beef (no wonder, given how much of it I ate when I was pregnant...) and Caleb -- well, he'll eat just about anything. They insist on feeding themselves, which means we have a breather to eat while they eat, but any time saved is lost in the massive clean up operation after every meal. You know Zoe is done eating when she bombs her unwanted food off the side of the tray.

Balloons are SO much fun.

"Well I
do declare!!"

What's a birthday without cake?

Sampling a little at a time...

"Uncle Dan, would you like some cake?"

"Hey, buster, you've got your own! It's not my fault you demolished it!"

Zoe: 100% girl
Caleb: 100% boy

"Sugar sugar sugar sugar sugaaaaarrrrr!!!!"

[sugar crash]

The clean up begins.
