Easter 2010

Easter proved to be an awesome, gorgeous sunny weekend this year. The weather hit 90 degrees earlier in the week but mellow to a comfortable 75 by Saturday, and we all were so thankful to spend the entire weekend outside. Granpa Al and Gramma Ellen came out from Sheboygan for a visit, and Z&C had so much fun playing with them.
The cherry blossoms were out all over DC, and we discovered that there are tulips and daffodils planted at our front walk. Zoe and Caleb like the tulips as well, particularly the way their heads pop off the stems with such a satisfying crunch. Ah!
This was the best I could do to get Calebee in his Easter clothes. I have to admit it may have had something to do with the teensy bit of chocolate I let them have...
Zoe is turning into a little tomboy princess. She LOVED her hat and dress from Lola. Caleb actually wore the hat for most of the day and all through brunch, but at least I got one photo!
Daddy, this isn't your house! It's my house! S having an Alice in Wonderland moment.
Ah, Easter loot. I couldn't help myself and bought the jelly beans and hollow Russell Stover bunnies that I remember as a kid. I also remember (1) my mom getting annoyed at the unbelievable mess that fake plastic grass can make (which I got annoyed at, too) and (2) the particular, all around bad-for-you taste of pink peeps. S insisted I take the peeps to work and poison my co-workers rather than give them to the kids.
"Caleb, look!"
Aren't kids awesome? This is the look he makes! Priceless!

We took a tree down earlier this year, and the stumps make a perfect jungle gym au natural. Getting ready for the cook out feast on Holy Saturday. The grandparents made it to the Basilica for mass, daddy trimmed the hedges, and selfish mommy ran 12 glorious miles on the C&O canal towpath on this perfect, crisp and cool spring morning. The hymn "Morning Has Broken" kept leaping into my head, for which I know every single word thanks to good indoctrination at the convent school in Sydney in year 4.
Can you find Zoe?
Peekaboo!
Dragging Gramma on our adventure.
Brie, please!
