Things have been pretty nutty since I last posted. Granpa Al and Gramma Ellen came out for a short visit from Sheboygan, right after election day, and I left for a work trip to Ethiopia and Kenya. Two weeks away from the babies is never fun. I got back in time for Thanksgiving, which we spent in Connecticut with Lola and Grandpa and Great Uncle Dan. Lola pulled out all the stops with the turkey and all the trimmings, plus apple pie and Zoe's new favorite - pumpkin pie. December has brought in really cold weather to DC so we have a daily struggle getting into heavy coats and hats. It seems to go much quicker if Daddy gets his coat on first.
Speaking of Daddy, we are in a "daddy-daddy-daddy!!" mode lately. The kids babble constantly. Zoe loves to say "buh-ba-DEE, buh-ba-DEE!" for bumblebee (the name of their class group at daycare) and Caleb is a great mimic. When they trip and fall, they'll say "boom!" once they hit the ground, and Caleb now will say "You 'kay?!" right away as well. I usually ask them "are you okay?" when they fall. Other recent strings of words include shoe, Elmo, all done, "no mo" (no more), hat, spoon (sort of), noo-noo for all-things-pasta, bub-boo (for bubbles in the bath) and a firm incidence on "their" armchairs that no one else can sit in without getting pushed and pulled to get off!
We're all looking forward to a New England Christmas with Sara, Todd, Anya, Maya, and Kai all coming into town. It's going to be a madhouse of children at Lola and Grandpa's house!!
